Dr. Neely Thornton
Dr. Neely Thornton is a Georgia native, born and raised in Rome. She graduated from Darlington School and proceeded on to Vanderbilt University. At Vanderbilt, she completed her B.S. in Engineering Science and Molecular Biology. Prior to entering the Medical College of Georgia, Dr. Thornton ventured out to Jackson Hole, Wyoming for a year where she worked in the dental field, reinforcing her enthusiasm to pursue dentistry. Dr. Thornton graduated top 10% of her dental school class in 2006, receiving many honors including the "golden molar" award for clinical excellence.
Dr. Thornton is an active member of the American Dental Association, Georgia Dental Association, and the Hinman Dental Society. She serves on the NW district's executive committee as the Student Relations chair. Dr. Thornton is also a member of local study clubs and travels often to receive the most current education and cutting edge technology in the advancing world of dentistry.
Dr. Thornton is happily married to her husband Brad, who is a pilot and CFI for Aviation Atlanta. They have an English Mastiff named Porter and have plans to grow their family someday. Both enjoy being active outdoors, traveling, hanging with friends and family and staying fit. Dr. Thornton also is an indoor cycling instructor at her local gym.
Matthew Cowan – Patient Coordinator
Matthew is a veteran of the United States Army after five years of dedicated service. He served a twelve month tour in Iraq and has traveled Army bases throughout the country working in communications. Matthew has found a passion for developing and improving smiles assisting with Dr. Thornton. He is our schedule coordinator and will help you with all your scheduling needs. He is a member of Atlanta’s Gaelic football team and enjoys running, reading historical literature and listening to an array of music.
Charlene Pierce - Treatment Coordinator
Charlene began her career in dentistry in 2004 and is certified by the state of Georgia for Expanded Duties in Dental Assisting. She loves what she does and takes pleasure in educating patients on their dental care needs. In her spare time Charlene enjoys traveling with her husband, reading all types of literature and volunteers at a nursing home.
Karen Callaway - Financial Coordinator
Karen is a Georgia native. She has been in the dental field for 30 years and is familiar with several areas of dentistry. Karen works diligently to assist patients with all of their dental insurance needs and financial concerns. Karen takes pleasure in spending time with her husband and teenage twins. She loves reading and photography.
Amanda Plott - Hygienist
Amanda is a Georgia native. She graduated in 1999 from Chattanooga State Technical Community College with a degree in Associate of Applied Science, magna cum laude, in Dental Hygiene. She exceeds the minimum of 11 hours per year of continuing education. She enjoys working out, hiking and reading.
