Patient Information for Thornton Dental Wellness

My First Visit

What to Expect at Your First Visit
Thinking about coming to see us here at Thornton Dental Wellness? If so, Dr. Neely Thornton and our entire team want you to feel comfortable from the moment you step through the door, so below, you’ll find exactly what to expect at your first appointment. We strive to help every patient feel right at home whether they are new to our practice or have been with us for years! Be sure to read over the helpful information on this page, and if you have any other questions ahead of your visit, don’t hesitate to give us a call.

How We Welcome You to Our Practice
After you’ve been checked in, we’ll offer you a refreshing beverage, and you’ll be able to enjoy it while we give you a brief tour of our office so you can meet everyone and have a chance to see our state-of-the-art technology. This is your new dental home, so you should know where everything is, right? Once you’ve been escorted to your treatment room, you’ll get to meet your dentist, and they’ll start by asking about what brought you to our office today. They’ll then take some X-rays of your mouth and perform a full mouth assessment that examines your teeth, gums, bite, and jawbone. Based on their observations, the X-rays, and your input, your dentist will go over your treatment options. They’ll work with you to create a treatment plan that fits perfectly with your unique needs and timelines. We’ll never pressure you to get one service over another. Instead, we’ll make sure you’re fully informed so you can make a confident treatment decision on your own. Of course, we’ll be happy to offer advice whenever you ask for it! Our goal is to provide dental care that is designed just for you!

Why These Appointments Are Important
Routine checkups like these are essential for your long term oral and overall health, as they allow our team to find potential problems early when they can be treated easily. They enable us to address cavities before they cause pain, fix cracks before a tooth breaks, and even catch cancer before it becomes too advanced! Our dentists, along with the American Dental Association, recommend that patients of all ages should attend at least two of these preventive appointments each year. In the long run, they can help someone maintain a much healthier smile and keep their dental costs relatively low.
